The Role
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging, inclusive learning activities.
- Adapt resources and learning strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
- Promote pupils' confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, families, teachers and external professionals.
- Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
- A minimum of 6 months' UK school-based experience supporting children (relevant placements will also be considered).
- Previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy and a positive, child-centred approach.
- The ability to build trusting relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to provide references covering the previous two years, including at least one reference relating to work with children. Providing referee details during your pre-screen or registration appointment will help ensure a smooth compliance process and the quickest possible clearance.
