The Role – Primary School Teacher

As a Primary School Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging, purposeful and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Planning and delivering engaging, creative and appropriately challenging primary lessons.
  • Delivering lessons that meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities.
  • Differentiating learning and providing appropriate support and challenge.
  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
  • Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress.
  • Using assessment information to inform future planning.
  • Supporting pupils with additional and special educational needs.
  • Building positive, respectful and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and other support staff.
  • Communicating effectively with parents, carers and other professionals.
  • Contributing to planning, assessment and wider school activities.
  • Participating positively in the wider life of the school.
  • Promoting pupils' independence, confidence and wellbeing.
  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Contributing to the school's continued improvement.
  • The Ideal Primary Teacher

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised UK teaching qualification.

  • Previous experience teaching within a UK primary school.
  • A minimum of

6 months' UK classroom experience .

  • Good knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging and purposeful lessons.
  • Experience differentiating teaching to meet individual pupil needs.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and child-centred approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
  • The flexibility and resilience required to thrive in a busy primary school environment.

ECTs with relevant UK teaching experience are also encouraged to apply, where the opportunity is suitable for their experience and career stage.

Requirements

  • QTS or a recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • A minimum of

6 months' UK classroom experience .

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through

Smile Education .

  • Two years of satisfactory employment and/or education references, including at least one reference relating to working with children.
  • All required safeguarding and compliance documentation.
