Create Education is looking for a confident, reliable and personable Cover Supervisor to work in a secondary school in Camden, North/Northwest London.
We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a secondary school, is comfortable managing a classroom and can keep students engaged when their usual teacher is absent. Experience is key here, so you’ll need a strong background working in secondary school settings and previous experience as a Cover Supervisor.
You don’t need to be a subject specialist, but if you have a particular strength in a subject area, that would be a bonus!
Just as important as your experience is your personality. A good sense of humour, a positive attitude and the ability to build rapport with young people will go a long way. We’re looking for someone who can strike the right balance between being approachable and maintaining clear boundaries.
What will you be doing?
- Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-set work.
- Managing classroom behaviour confidently and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Delivering instructions clearly and supporting students with their learning where appropriate.
- Adapting to different subjects, classes and classroom environments throughout the school day.
- Building positive relationships with students and staff while upholding the school's behaviour policies.
- Providing reliable, consistent support to the school and its teaching staff.
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor is essential.
- Extensive experience working within secondary school settings.
- Confident classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- A positive, approachable personality and good interpersonal skills.
- A sense of humour, resilience and the ability to think on your feet.
- Flexibility and the confidence to work across a range of subjects.
- A DBS registered on the Update Service, or the ability and willingness to apply for one immediately.
