Are you a qualified Teacher with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and looking for greater flexibility in your career? Smile Education is currently recruiting for a Resource Base teacher at a school based in Birmingham (B8). This position is based full time from September 2026 on a Primary Resource Base, assisting pupils with complex learning needs such as ASC.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual pupils
  • Manage behaviour effectively and promote positive outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and other professionals
  • Follow school policies and EHCP targets where required

Essential Requirements

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have recent UK-based teaching experience
  • Have experience supporting and teaching children with Special Educational Needs
  • Be confident adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
  • Be able to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Be available to work school hours of 8:15am – 3:30pm
  • Provide a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years, including comments on your work with children
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education
