Pay: £90 - £115 Per day (Based on experience)

Contract: Full time opportunity Monday – Friday until end of academic year

Smile Education is proud to be supporting a specialist SEN school in B31 that is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with PMLD, severe learning difficulties and complex physical disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated SEN professional with strong experience supporting individuals with profound and multiple learning difficulties, medical needs, sensory impairments and communication barriers. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and personally throughout the school day.

The Role

  • Support pupils with PMLD, severe physical disabilities and complex medical needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised and engaging learning activities.
  • Provide personal care and physical support where required.
  • Support learners using sensory and multi-sensory approaches.
  • Promote communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and medical professionals.
  • Help create a calm, safe and structured learning environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the day.
  • Support pupils with mobility, feeding and daily routines where necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months experience supporting PMLD, SLD or severe physical disabilities.
  • Previous experience within SEN schools, care settings or specialist provisions preferred.
  • Comfortable supporting personal care and medical needs.
  • Compassionate, patient and adaptable nature.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to full time work and consistency for vulnerable learners.
  • Able to provide 2 years referencing history.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
