Smile Education are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a mainstream primary school in Birmingham. The school is rated ‘good’ in their latest Ofsted inspection and has a strong and welcoming atmosphere within the staff team. The SEN Teaching Assistant role would be working full time on a 1:1 basis with a primary school child, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30. The role will focus on supporting the child and encouraging positive behaviour.
Responsibilities
- Have a sole focus on working 1:1 Basis with a child in KS1
- Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the child, staff and family members.
- Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
- Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.

- An up-to-date DBS on the update service or dated within the last 12 months.
- A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3).
- Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work.
- Experience working with Primary school children.
- At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
