We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive SEN school in the Tamworth area for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

The school supports pupils across 3 sites, working with children from Nursery through to Year 6, and is looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

The ideal candidate will be available full‑time; however, part‑time applicants will also be considered for the right person.

Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of special educational needs both inside and outside of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to help create a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting with classroom activities and learning interventions
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
  • Supporting children with additional communication and sensory needs
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff across all 3 sites
  • Helping to create a consistent and structured learning environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within an SEN or school setting
  • A patient, caring and resilient attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils
  • A calm and adaptable approach to challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Commitment, consistency and reliability – these are essential qualities for this role

Qualifications Required

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • CACHE qualification
  • Childcare or Education‑related qualification
  • Or equivalent relevant experience and certification
