Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of a secondary school near Sutton Coldfield for a Sports Coach / Cover Teacher to support Physical Education and general cover. There are long term and short term/part time roles starting in January 2026. The position would suit an experienced Sports Coach, PE specialist, or confident Cover Teacher with a passion for engaging pupils in physical activity and learning.
The Role:
- Delivering PE lessons and supporting physical activity across the middle school age range
- Providing classroom cover when required, following pre-set work
- Leading engaging, inclusive, and well-structured sessions
- Supporting pupils’ wellbeing, behaviour, and participation
- Working collaboratively with the PE department and wider school team
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in a school or coaching setting
- A strong interest or background in sport and physical education
- Confidence managing groups of pupils and maintaining positive behaviour
- Ability to commit to a full-time, long-term placement
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- (QTS is not required for this role.)
