Smile Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants / SEN Teaching Assistants to join a Primary School SEN setting across Grimsby. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive, inclusive environment helping children with additional needs access learning and reach their potential.
Role Overview
You will provide targeted support to pupils across KS1 and KS2, working closely with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff. The role involves delivering 1:1 support, small group interventions, and supporting children with a range of needs including:
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH
- Mental health needs
- Emotional regulation
- School avoidance
- Speech and language needs
- Behavioural challenges
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality SEND support in a primary school setting
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning
- Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Support pupils with communication and speech & language needs
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
- Promote a calm, inclusive, and nurturing environment
Requirements
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN qualification (preferred)
- Experience working in SEND or SEN settings, SRPs, or mainstream primary schools
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Patient, resilient, and child-centred approach
- Ability to support pupils with complex needs, including behavioural and SEMH needs
