Are you passionate about Science and keen to help young people achieve their academic potential?

Smile Education is working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in the West Bromwich area to recruit a motivated Science Academic Mentor for September.

This is an exciting opportunity for Science graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Learning Support Assistants or Cover Supervisors looking to gain valuable secondary school experience.

Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed, with flexibility available for the right candidate.

The Role

  • Deliver targeted intervention sessions across Biology, Chemistry and Physics to students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help raise attainment and build confidence.
  • Work alongside Science teachers to support learning within the classroom.
  • Assist students with GCSE preparation and revision techniques.
  • Encourage curiosity, engagement and a love for Science.

Qualifications

  • Holds a degree in Science or a related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or similar), or has relevant classroom experience.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about education and supporting young people to succeed.
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Is reliable, enthusiastic and proactive.
