Smile Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join a welcoming primary school in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham. This is a temporary position expected to continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
The school operates a flexible shift pattern, as you will be working alongside Site Assistants to ensure full site coverage across the school day. Flexibility around working hours is therefore essential.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management, maintenance, safety, and security of the school premises. Working closely with the wider site team, you will ensure the school remains safe, secure, clean, and fully operational at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the school site and ensuring site security at all times
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and premises upkeep
- Conducting regular health & safety checks, including fire alarm testing and site inspections
- Managing site compliance, including COSHH regulations and risk assessments
- Maintaining accurate site records, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation
- Responding promptly and proactively to maintenance issues and site requirements
- Overseeing the cleanliness, presentation, and safety of the school environment
- Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and external agencies where necessary
- Working collaboratively with Site Assistants and school staff to maintain site standards
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Site Manager within a school setting is essential
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and site compliance procedures
- Experience with COSHH and risk assessments
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a school site
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- A proactive and hands-on approach to premises management
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff and visitors
- Experience maintaining compliance records and documentation
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
