We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our first school in Redditch from January. This is a HLTA role supporting three children in our specialist SEN provision, The Nest. The children have high-level behaviour needs, so we require someone confident, calm and skilled in behaviour management.
About the HLTA Role
This HLTA position involves providing structured support to three SEN pupils who benefit from a nurturing, low-demand environment. Your mornings will be spent leading and supporting activities such as puzzles, games, sensory play and simple tasks that help promote emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour. This is an ideal role for a HLTA who is passionate about SEN, behaviour support and early years/first school environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent SEN support as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant within The Nest provision.
- Use strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
- Build positive relationships with pupils with high-level behaviour needs.
- Lead engaging, play-based activities (games, puzzles, sensory tasks).
- Support pupils’ emotional regulation, communication and routine.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCo, teachers and wider school team.
- Contribute to personalised support plans and pupil observations.
