Smile Education are recruiting for a SEN Inclusion Mentor to work with pupils aged 11-16 in a secondary school in Oldham.

The Role

As a Secondary SEN Inclusion Mentor, you will support pupils with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, communication needs, learning difficulties and barriers to learning.

You will work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team and teaching staff to help pupils access lessons, regulate emotions, build confidence and remain engaged in school.

The role will involve one-to-one support, small-group intervention, in-class support and targeted inclusion work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils aged 11-16 with SEN, SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Work with pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Help pupils access learning and remain engaged in lessons.
  • Support emotional regulation, communication and confidence.
  • Use calm, consistent behaviour and inclusion strategies.
  • Assist with intervention, pastoral and SEN support.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team and teaching staff.
  • Record pupil engagement, behaviour and intervention notes where required.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.

Requirements

  • You must either have experience supporting SEN pupils aged 11-16, or hold a relevant degree.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a secondary school, SEN setting, PRU, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, care or residential setting would be beneficial.
  • General degree backgrounds without SEN, education or youth-based experience will not be suitable.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills are essential.
  • You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • £100-£130 per day, paid weekly.
