IT Support Technician Oldham £100–£130 per day | Full-time | Temp-to-perm opportunity Smile Education are recruiting for an IT Technician to join a successful secondary school in Oldham. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. Role Overview As an IT Technician, your responsibilities will include providing first-line technical support to staff and students, maintaining IT equipment and networks, troubleshooting hardware, software and access issues, supporting classroom technology, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school’s IT systems. Key Responsibilities Provide first-line technical support to staff and students. Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, printers and other IT equipment. Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues. Support the maintenance of the school’s IT systems and infrastructure. Assist with user accounts, password resets and access permissions. Support Microsoft 365, Windows systems and common school software. Maintain classroom technology and audiovisual equipment where required. Keep accurate records of IT assets, repairs and support requests. Assist with software installations, updates and system maintenance. Report recurring technical issues and support wider IT improvements. Follow school policies around IT security, data protection and safeguarding.Requirements Previous experience in an IT Technician, IT Support or similar technical role is required. Experience working in a school or education setting is desirable but not essential. Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 is required. Understanding of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting is essential. Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You must be able to communicate clearly with staff, students and colleagues. You should be organised, professional and able to manage support requests effectively. Relevant IT qualifications are desirable but not essential. You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
