Smile Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming mainstream primary school in the Burton area, who are seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant for the Summer Term. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a pupil during Summer 1, who requires consistent, dedicated support throughout the school day. The child is currently awaiting an ADHD diagnosis and can present with challenging and oppositional behaviour, so experience and confidence in this area is essential.

The Role:

  • Providing full-time 1:1 support in and out of the classroom
  • Delivering activities set by the class teacher
  • Supporting the pupil in maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Assisting during break and lunchtimes to encourage social interaction and inclusion
  • Building strong relationships with parents and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced working 1:1 with children, particularly those with challenging behaviour
  • Confident, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure
  • Proactive and able to follow guidance from the class teacher
  • Committed to making a positive impact on a child’s school experience

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare, Early Years or Teaching Assistant
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Able to provide references covering the past 2 years
