Smile Education is working in partnership with a secondary school in North Manchester to recruit a passionate and committed Science Teacher.

About the Role

You will be joining a supportive Science department, delivering GCSE-focused lessons across KS3 and KS4. The role centres on developing students’ understanding of core scientific concepts across Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics, while preparing them for assessments and exams. You will play an important role in driving student progress, supporting attainment at GCSE level, and contributing to a positive and structured learning environment where students can engage confidently with both theory and practical Science. This opportunity is open to both experienced teachers and ECTs, with flexible start dates available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 in line with the national curriculum
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams, focusing on exam technique and subject knowledge
  • Teach key topics such as cells, energy, forces, and chemical reactions
  • Plan and deliver practical experiments, ensuring health and safety standards are met
  • Assess, track, and monitor student progress to support attainment
  • Maintain strong classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support students of varying abilities, including targeted intervention where required
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or a recognised teaching qualification
  • Have a degree in Science or a related subject
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the GCSE Science curriculum
  • Be confident delivering Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics
  • Have experience supporting students towards GCSE outcomes
  • Be professional, reliable, and adaptable
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
