We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive SEN school in the Lichfield area for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. The school supports pupils across 3 sites, working with children from Nursery through to Year 6, and is looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
The ideal candidate will be available full-time; however, part-time applicants will also be considered for the right person.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of special educational needs both inside and outside of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to help create a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive. This role will involve:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting with classroom activities and learning interventions
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
- Supporting children with additional communication and sensory needs
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff across all 3 sites
- Helping to create a consistent and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally within an SEN or school setting
- A patient, caring and resilient attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils
- A calm and adaptable approach to challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Commitment, consistency and reliability — these are essential qualities for this role
Qualifications Required
- Applicants must hold a relevant qualification, such as:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- CACHE qualification
- Childcare or Education-related qualification
- Or equivalent relevant experience and certification
