Smile Education is recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping to create engaging learning experiences that promote every child's development and prepare them for lifelong learning.
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team, you will play a key role in supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing through a child-centred approach.
The Role
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the learning and development of children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Deliver engaging learning activities through both adult-led and child-initiated play.
- Work with individual children and small groups to support their progress across all areas of learning.
- Promote children's communication, language, social and emotional development.
- Observe, assess and contribute to children's learning journeys and development records.
- Help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage children's independence, curiosity and confidence.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- Support children's personal care where required, following school policies and procedures.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (essential).
- Previous experience working within an Early Years setting, nursery, preschool or primary school EYFS classroom.
- A strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
- A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- A proactive attitude with the flexibility to meet the individual needs of every child.
- A genuine passion for supporting children in achieving the best possible start to their education.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Hold a recognised and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Have recent experience working within an Early Years setting.
- Be able to provide two years of professional references, including comments on your work with children.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Smile Education.
