Behaviour Mentor – Secondary SEN School

Location: B60

Pay: £95 – £120 per day (based on experience)

Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday until the end of the academic year

The role involves working closely with pupils to promote positive behaviour, engagement in learning, and personal development.

The Role

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including SEMH and Autism.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural support.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies consistently.
  • Support pupils in regulating emotions and developing coping strategies.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to support learning in the classroom.
  • Help de-escalate challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Monitor and report on pupil behaviour and progress.
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and supportive school environment.
  • Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing at all times.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN or behavioural needs.

  • Previous experience in a school or alternative provision setting (desirable).
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
  • Reliable and committed to full-time work.
  • Able to provide at least two references covering the last two years.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
