SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary Mainstream School

Salary: £90–£115 per day (depending on experience and qualifications). Part‑time, long‑term (3 days a week).

Role Overview

You will provide targeted support to pupils across KS1 and KS2, working closely with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff.

The role involves delivering 1:1 support, small group interventions, and supporting children with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, mental health needs, emotional regulation, school avoidance, speech and language needs, and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality SEND support in a primary school setting.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning.
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation.
  • Support pupils with communication and speech & language needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN qualification (preferred).
  • Experience working in SEND or SEN settings, SRPs, or mainstream primary schools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Patient, resilient, and child‑centred approach.
  • Ability to support pupils with complex needs, including behavioural and SEMH needs.
  • Salary & Benefits
