Specialist SEN Teacher Opportunity – September Start We are seeking an exceptional and dedicated Specialist SEN Teacher to join a highly supportive and inclusive educational setting in the B20 area of Birmingham from September 2026.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for a qualified teacher with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

Working within a nurturing and well-resourced environment, you will be responsible for delivering personalised learning experiences to a small class of pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs, and moderate learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning programmes aligned with EHCP targets and individual outcomes.
  • Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence and achievement.
  • Utilise a range of evidence-based SEN teaching strategies, including multi-sensory and communication-focused approaches.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress accurately, adapting provision where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to maximise pupil engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure consistency of support.
  • Participate in annual reviews, multi-agency meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Support pupils' emotional regulation, wellbeing and personal development.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and contribute to a culture of inclusion and respect.

  • The Ideal Candidate Will Have Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working within specialist schools, resource bases or alternative provision settings.
  • Additional SEN qualifications or specialist training.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, communication needs or complex learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration approaches, PECS, Makaton or similar communication systems.
