Smile Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming primary school and Alternative Provision setting in Birmingham, seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Primary Teacher to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN specialist to lead a class of pupils with additional needs, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that support both academic progress and personal development. The role is ideal for teachers with KS1 and/or KS2 experience who are committed to making a meaningful impact.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to pupils with a range of special educational needs
- Plan and implement personalised learning programmes in line with EHCPs and IEPs
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour
- Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress and development
- Use differentiated and multi-sensory teaching strategies to meet individual needs
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and parents/carers
- Contribute to reviews, meetings, and multi-agency planning
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience working with pupils with Autism
- At least 3 months’ SEN teaching experience
- Experience within an Alternative Provision setting (desirable)
- Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing, resilient approach
- Reliable and committed to a full‑time role
- Able to provide a minimum of two references covering the past two years (including one related to working with children)
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Smile Education
