Smile Education are currently recruiting for Exam Invigilators to support secondary schools during the upcoming exam period in the Aston area of Birmingham. These schools provide supportive and well-structured environments for pupils and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and fairness during examinations. The successful applicants will play a key role in ensuring exams are conducted in line with regulations, supporting pupils in a calm and professional manner, and maintaining a secure and organised environment. This is a great opportunity to work within a dedicated school team during busy exam periods.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervising students before, during, and after examinations
  • Ensuring exam conditions are maintained in accordance with JCQ regulations
  • Setting up exam rooms, including distributing and collecting papers and materials
  • Assisting students with queries in line with exam guidelines
  • Monitoring behaviour and ensuring a quiet and focused environment
  • Escorting students as required, including supervising rest breaks
  • Reporting any irregularities, incidents, or concerns to senior staff
  • Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety procedures are followed at all times

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold an exam invigilation qualification or equivalent (essential)
  • Have previous experience as an exam invigilator or working within a school setting (preferred)
  • Be reliable, punctual, and highly organised
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict procedures
  • Be calm, professional, and able to manage a formal exam environment
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident supervising secondary-aged pupils
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

What to expect from applicants?

Applicants must hold a recognised exam invigilation qualification or equivalent. Previous experience working in a school or similar environment is desirable, although additional training and guidance can be provided. A strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and awareness of exam regulations is essential. Flexibility during peak exam periods is highly desirable.
