Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Newly Qualified Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school based in Walsall. The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access learning both inside and outside of the classroom. You will support pupils with a range of additional needs and help create a positive, engaging and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

You may support students with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Physical disabilities and sensory needs

Previous experience in a similar role through placements, volunteering or childcare settings is desirable but not essential, making this the perfect opportunity for a newly qualified Teaching Assistant looking to build on their experience and confidence.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A relevant qualification in Teaching Assistant, Early Years, Health and Social Care or a similar child-based qualification
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Patience, empathy and a nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A positive, proactive and can-do attitude
  • The confidence to use their own initiative while also working effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment, reliability and willingness to learn

Requirements

  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 references covering the last 2 years
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Availability to work within a school setting in Walsall
