Head of Creative and Strategy
£60,000 to £70,000 – London, hybrid (2 days per week in office).
We are working with a growing creative agency that is looking for a Head of Creative and Strategy to lead their creative and strategic output.
This is a big, exciting role for someone who can sit right at the heart of an agency and help shape both the work and the direction of the team.
You will be leading a small team of creatives and strategists, driving ideas across pitches and live projects, and helping the agency continue to raise the bar creatively.
This is a role with real autonomy, so it needs someone who is confident in their thinking, brilliant with clients and able to turn strong strategic foundations into creative work that lands.
You will be someone who can think upstream of a brief, get under the skin of a brand, understand the audience and build the thinking that makes the creative stronger.
But you will also be close enough to the work to make sure the ideas are brought to life properly, whether that is film, photography, animation, social‑first content, strategy or design.
- What you will be doing
- Lead creative and strategic development across pitches, campaigns and live client projects.
- Shape the strategic narrative behind new business pitches, ensuring clear, compelling thinking that gives the creative a strong reason to exist.
- Run discovery and insight work with clients, getting under the skin of their brand, audience, market and commercial goals.
- Use research, data, cultural insight and AI tools to sharpen thinking and bring stronger strategic recommendations to the table.
- Lead idea generation across new business and live projects, working closely with a team of creatives and strategists.
- Build and present strong pitch decks that bring ideas to life clearly, confidently and commercially.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on the agency’s creative direction while maintaining autonomy over day‑to‑day creative output.
- Act as the creative point of reference across key projects, staying close to work as it moves through production and post‑production.
- Run internal creative sessions that generate strong ideas, balancing impact and commercial viability.
- Keep ahead of trends across branded content, social and campaign thinking, bringing fresh references and inspiration into the team.
- Write copy for pitches and, where needed, for client work.
- Collaborate with filmmakers, editors, animators, designers and illustrators to keep the creative output strong and joined up.
- Approve final edits and animations on creative‑led projects, ensuring the work is delivered as sold.
- Lead and develop a small team of creatives and strategists, supporting their growth and helping them do their best work.
- Contribute to the wider growth and direction of the agency as part of the senior leadership team.
- Spot creative and strategic opportunities with existing clients and help turn ideas into new work.
- Understand commercial delivery, including involvement in scoping and costing.
- What we are looking for
- 10+ years of experience developing creative campaigns, ideally with strong experience across video, photographic and branded content.
- Proven track record across long‑form, short‑form and social‑first content.
- Comfortable developing strategic frameworks, channel strategies, audience strategies and campaign thinking from scratch.
- Ability to shape briefs rather than simply respond to them.
- Confident and inspiring presenter, both in the room and through decks.
- Strong creative mind that explores different routes, not just the safest answer.
- Quick understanding of a client, their audience and what really matters to them.
- Solid understanding of production and post‑production processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing and developing a small creative or strategy team.
- Comfortable in a fast‑moving agency environment with shifting priorities.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of deliverable, sellable, effective ideas.
Benefits & Why this could be a good move
This is a great opportunity to step into a senior creative leadership role with real influence.
You will be joining an agency that is growing, ambitious and continuing to win more creative and strategically interesting work.
The team is small enough to make a genuine impact, yet established enough to build upon strong momentum.
There is room to build and shape the creative and strategy function, lead a talented team, and become a key voice in the future direction of the agency.
If you are a senior creative and strategic thinker who loves winning work, building brilliant ideas and helping people around you do their best work, this could be a really exciting next step.
