With a focus on integrity, innovation, and client satisfaction, we are seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our dynamic finance team and support business growth through insightful financial analysis and reporting.
Job Purpose
The Management Accountant will play a key role in providing accurate financial information to support decision‑making across the business. Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and providing financial insight to improve operational performance and profitability. The Group has significant plans for growth both organically and through acquisition; the Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in the automation of processes and onboarding of new entities into the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for all transactions through to trial balance, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls.
- Responsible for the oversight of the sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control activities.
- Responsible for the accuracy of the ledgers including journal processing and the reconciliation of balance sheet ledger accounts.
- Prepare and deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Accountable for the cash flow forecasting for the group, including oversight of banking and the processing of payment runs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies, cost reduction and economies of scale across the group.
- Work with department heads to monitor financial performance against budgets and KPIs.
- Provide commercial analysis of business unit profitability, utilisation rates and fee structures.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Ad hoc analysis and project support as required (e.g. pricing models, cost‑saving initiatives, system upgrades).
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with business unit leaders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, QBE).
- Experience working in a professional services environment is highly desirable, with experience of time recording, billing and WIP accounting.
- Solid understanding of management accounting principles and financial controls.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting and operational systems (e.g. Sage, Xero and Iris knowledge advantageous).
Performance KPIs
Timeliness of monthly management accounts – reports completed within 5 working days of month‑end.
Reporting accuracy – < 2% error rate in submitted financial reports.
WIP and debtor management support – active monitoring with reduction in aged WIP and debtor days.
Process improvement delivery – at least 1 significant finance process improvement per year.
Utilisation and fee earner analysis – monthly reporting pack delivered with commentary to leadership.
