Purpose of the role?

SMH Financial Services are now looking for a Senior technical Paraplanner/Analyst who will ultimately take control of all technical output for the firm and lead the current technical support team as the business continues to grow.

Reports to

Advice & Operations Manager – The individual will work closely with the Advice & Operations Manager to ensure the efficient delivery of all advice.

Key Responsibilities will include

  • Technical assistance – Be the ‘go to’ person for technical queries in the team
  • Training and nurturing of less technically competent team members, through suitability report checking etc
  • Update/monitor financial planning tools i. e research & analysis softwares/calculators to ensure fit for purpose
  • Ongoing monitoring/updating suitability report templates
  • Liaising with external compliance teams to collate and deliver feedback to the team
  • Responsibility for the development and implementation of our advice strategies – Cashflow, at retirement, CIRP, tax efficient investing & investment strategy etc
  • Responsible for delivery of advice and advice compliance

Other responsibilities

New business

  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of client objectives
  • Perform due diligence, research and analysis
  • Undertake calculations (Pension contributions/CGT/IHT/Income Tax)
  • Production of client presentation documents and suitability reports
  • Oversight of provider illustrations / applications / fund information etc.
  • Monitoring new business pipeline through to completion
  • Client fee monitoring

Client reviews

  • Pre meeting analysis
  • Production of post review letters

Client administration

  • IO and general record keeping (includes Fact find and risk profiler reports)
  • Maintaining and updating of client information (electronic)
  • Obtaining and evaluating information from providers
  • Liaising with clients and providers

General admin

  • Deal with day-to-day correspondence from providers and clients
  • Work collaboratively with Managers and wider support team
  • Deal with adviser / client requests

What qualifications do you need?

  • Technically proficient with all aspects of ‘holistic’ financial planning ( essential )
  • Technically proficient in IHT planning/pensions/investments & working with SME’s ( essential )
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ( essential )
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered ( essential )
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills ( essential )
  • Minimum 5+ years in paraplanning ( essential )
  • Supervisory/training/mentoring experience ( essential )
