At Smedley Group Advanced Technology, we develop cutting-edge simulation tools to supply insights and predictive capability in motorsport. As part of our growing engineering division, you will help develop specialised platforms and simulation tools, not just in motorsport, but throughout the world of sport. You will also develop capabilities for our FAT Karting League, a global championship which is reshaping the accessibility of junior motorsport.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Advanced Technology, the Junior Simulation Engineer will play a key role in delivering complex and novel engineering projects. The successful candidate will sit across various projects within the motorsports engineering division, as well as sports analytics and insights projects for other sports.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to solving complex engineering problems using analytical techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on active projects.
  • Support the development and analysis of simulation models.
  • Assist in coding and data processing tasks using Python and MATLAB.
  • Help interpret results and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential to have:

  • Recent graduate in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong intrinsic interest in, and understanding of, motorsport.

Nice to have:

  • Background in applied mathematics and physics is preferred.
  • Familiarity or interest in simulation modelling techniques.
  • Experience in other programming languages and understanding of back-end architectures.
