For 2 days a week you will be on reception: welcoming visitors, handling calls and emails, booking travel and accommodation, and other bits and pieces. For the other 3 days, you will be providing administrative support for an executive assistant. This will include tasks such as typing, data entry, filing, photocopying, and more. Don’t worry if you haven’t done all of these things, as training is given.
The job is ideal for a College or University graduate. It’s a business where you will be encouraged to grow, develop new skills, and take on more responsibility. If you work hard, listen, and learn, then you can have a great career there.
Yes, the starting salary is minimum wage, but this will increase in time (and you will get a rise as soon as April when the rate goes up). This can be the start of a great career for you with the business, and other university and college graduates have done well there.
You should have a university degree or college qualification, and ideally good grades in GCSEs including English and Maths. You will need good all-round admin skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc). You will also need to be happy dealing with people. You will sometimes be dealing with Directors or difficult situations, so you will need to have a bit of confidence.
You will be working as part of a team, but also on your own at times, and will need to use your initiative.
