You ll be based from Leeds, but will be onsite 2-3 days a week, visiting water company sites across the country with a senior engineer, and will take on more and more responsibility yourself as time goes on. A lot of what you will do relates to deploying specialist measuring equipment onto pipelines; the information generated from this goes to specialist software that is used by office based engineers, so they can identify areas of concern, or potential issues; for example surges of water. You ll be involved with this too, when you re in the office, and it s a great opportunity to use your numerical reasoning skills. When you re on-site there will be a real hands-on aspect to the role. You ll be going up ladders, down manholes; tightening loose bolts, drilling. And lots more. You can take a real pride in helping to make sure that water and sewer networks work efficiently.
