SMBC has an internally built bespoke middle office system to facilitate trading activities. A role has arisen in the team to work on the initiative of moving the current platform to a cutting-edge SOLID framework.
Software Development - Risk Technology Team
The risk development team is primarily responsible for the monitoring of market risk, credit risk and liquidity risk etc. We have a portfolio of projects and BAU work to enable business growth.
Position Description
This role will perform at a senior level to develop new software to meet business requirements and take the technology stack forward. The company has moved forward with cloud technology. The deliverables will also include cloud-enabled applications.
Key Skills & Abilities
- Experience with developing web apps with ASP.Net Core (C#).
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience of Azure cloud adoption, understanding of Azure Functions, Logic Apps, App Services, Azure Service Bus.
- Experience of Azure DevOps is an advantage.
- Proven experience of design and implementing micro-services architectures.
- Knowledge of financial markets and securities products. Experience in market risk and post-trade settlement processing will be an advantage.
- Ability to analyse information, understand business needs & requirements and derive the best possible systems solution.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to people with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Good work ethic, with a focus on meeting deadlines and objectives.

- Undergraduate level knowledge of computer science fundamentals.
- Track record of successfully delivering software development projects.
- Experience supporting live systems.
- Experience in financial risk systems in investment banking.
