Site Manager – BESS & Energy Infrastructure
Location: United Kingdom – Site-Based – County Durham
Company Overview: A forward-thinking player in the energy infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced HV Construction Manager or Site Manager to support the delivery of large-scale battery energy storage (BESS) and high-voltage projects across the UK. The company specialises in grid-connected solutions, offering full lifecycle project support from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
Role Overview: This is a site-based leadership role responsible for managing the construction phase of HV and BESS projects. The successful candidate will coordinate subcontractors, enforce safety and quality standards, and act as the key point of contact on-site. This is an ideal opportunity for a driven construction leader with a track record in delivering energy infrastructure safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee on-site construction activities for HV and BESS projects from mobilisation through to final handover.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, site engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and safe project delivery.
- Serve as the primary site representative, liaising with clients and stakeholders to maintain transparent communication and strong relationships.
- Ensure compliance with NEC3, FIDIC, and other contractual and commercial frameworks.
- Monitor site progress against programme milestones and ensure alignment with budget and regulatory requirements.
- Lead on-site HSE initiatives, enforce CDM obligations, and uphold governance standards.
- Manage site logistics, quality assurance, and permit-to-work systems.
Candidate Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience managing high-voltage (HV) and/or BESS construction projects in the UK.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (NEC3, FIDIC) and project commercial structures.
- Skilled in managing subcontractors and leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams on site.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
