I’m currently supporting a technical assurance consultancy on a key hire for a Technical Lead to support a major mission-critical communications programme.
Location: London (1 day per week)
Duration: 12-month contract (extension expected)
This role sits at the heart of emergency services technology, focusing on control room integration ensuring next-generation communications platforms work seamlessly with systems used to dispatch and manage critical incidents.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee client-side project delivery, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives
- Engage with key stakeholders across clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Specify technical requirements and support procurement activities
- Provide technical assurance and governance across complex deployments
- Strong understanding of technical solutions used in Emergency Services control rooms (e.g. ICCS, mobilising systems, mobile data)
- Knowledge of Command & Control, communications, and dispatch systems
- Experience with mission-critical communications (MCx) and networks such as Airwave
- Understanding of testing approaches (verification and validation) in mission-critical environments
- Proven experience delivering ICT projects within complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience contributing to business cases and working within agile delivery programmes
- Background in planning and delivering ICT projects (including cost, risk, and resource planning)
- Experience capturing user requirements, user journeys, and UX/UI considerations
- Knowledge of radio and communications technologies (GSM, TETRA, 3G/4G/5G, Private 5G, WiFi calling)
- Understanding of data networking, security, and critical national infrastructure
