We are dedicated to making it easy to ask the right questions to empower people to make informed decisions and achieve better outcomes.

SmartSurvey is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead the delivery of data pipelines, insights, and dashboards that drive confident, data-informed decisions across the business. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role, combining technical expertise in data modelling and transformation with stakeholder collaboration and business acumen. You’ll take responsibility for the full ELT process, develop and optimize our Power BI semantic layer, and create impactful dashboards that help teams across SmartSurvey thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy and Pipeline Development: Lead the end-to-end ELT process from extracting data from diverse sources (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Recurly, Stripe, Mixpanel, Azure SQL) to transforming it into clear, reusable models in Power BI. Design, automate and manage reliable data pipelines that integrate data across systems and support scalable reporting needs. Champion best practices in data transformation using Power Query (M) and DAX.
  • Semantic Modelling & Dashboard Delivery: Develop and maintain robust semantic models in Power BI to support self-serve analytics and a standardised approach to reporting. Create intuitive, high impact dashboards that showcase key insights across revenue, customer engagement, product usage and retention metrics. Continuously optimise performance and usability to deliver fast, reliable reporting experiences.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Insights Generation: Partner with teams across Sales, Product, Marketing, Support, Operations and Finance to understand business goals and data reporting needs. Translate complex data into actionable insights through storytelling and compelling visuals.
  • Governance, Enablement & Documentation: Implement secure data governance practices within Power BI (e.g., workspace structure, row-level security, access controls). Document data definitions, transformation logic and dashboard using to drive shared understanding and transparency. Empower team members to confidently interpret and explore dashboards by providing training, support and resources.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience designing and delivering ELT workflows using Power BI or similar tools (e.g., SQL-based pipelines, Azure Data Factory).
  • Strong proficiency with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including DAX, Power Query (M language), and semantic modelling.
  • Experience working in a SaaS business and familiarity with KPIs like MRR/ARR, churn, CAC and CLTV.
  • Comfortable integrating data from multiple sources (cloud apps, APIs, databases).
  • Collaborative and clear communicator, with the ability to translate business needs into data solutions.
  • Ability to balance technical detail with broader business context.

Additional skills we would love to see:

  • Experience coaching or enabling non-technical users to navigate and interpret dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform tools (e.g., Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced SaaS or scale-up environment.

The ideal candidate will have start-up experience, preferably with a background in tech/SaaS.

This is a remote role; however, you may be required to attend team meetings occasionally. You must have a suitable space to work from at home and a reliable internet connection.
