Location: Hybrid – flexible base (Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Darlington, Edinburgh, Manchester, or London Whitehall)
Working Pattern: Fully flexible onsite requirements with potential for remote working; occasional travel for key meetings and away days
Rate: £650–£675 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 9 months
Clearance: Active or recently lapsed SC (transferable)
Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect with a strong focus on feature and systems design rather than hands-on coding. This role will support the design and delivery of data platform solutions within an AWS environment, working collaboratively across teams in a Civil Service setting.
Key Skills Experience:
- Strong AWS design experience, particularly within data platforms
- Containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Infrastructure tooling exposure (GitHub, Terraform – usage rather than development)
- Systems design and feature design expertise
- Identity and access management knowledge
- Troubleshooting complex technical environments
- Experience creating system diagrams (e.g. Mermaid) and technical documentation
- Ability to assess, categorise, and allocate work across teams
- Strong collaboration, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Familiarity with Civil Service ways of working is desirable
