BACKGROUND
A People & OD Assistant Business Partner is responsible for supporting the People & OD Management team to influence and drive the strategic People & Organisational Development agenda within the People & OD Directorate.
As People & OD Assistant Business Partner, you will:
- Support the People & OD Business Partner to deliver a proactive and professional business partnering service working closely and collaboratively with the Directorate's senior leadership teams.
- Support on all aspects of workforce planning and resource availability, leadership development, engagement and people management practices for the designated Directorates.
- Understand priorities and issues and work within the operational People & OD team to support in providing expertise for the People & OD Directorate.
- Support the People & OD Business Partner with the embedding of workforce planning and good people management practices within the team and across the organisation, which could include actions to increase engagement with the workforce, the facilitation of workforce redesign and new ways of working, management of organisational change people related issues, performance management and monitoring of workforce targets and developing managerial and team capabilities.
- Support the People & OD Directorate with the implementation of activity which directly supports the delivery of the People & OD strategy and adds value to the overall performance of the Directorate.
- Develop key working relationships with Directors, Senior Management, People & OD colleagues internal and external to the organisation, external service providers, Local and National Trade Union Representatives and colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Degree in an associated professional field (or equivalent qualification / experience).
- Associate member CIPD.
- Specialist knowledge acquired through specialist courses and/or significant formal training in a relevant field.
- Further evidence of relevant higher-level education and/or training.
- Knowledge gained through practical experience of working at this level, across the range of work procedures and practices.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable
- Conflict resolution / mediation training.
- Management qualification.
- Knowledge of the NHS, other healthcare systems, or the health sector, including regional or national variations.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Specialist knowledge of employment and related legislation and the ability to advise managers and staff.
- Knowledge of ACAS codes of good practice.
- Highly motivated and able to prioritise workload.
- Flexible approach and ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to work as a team, sharing knowledge and experience for overall benefit of the organisation.
- Able to operate independently and to represent the organisation.
- Ability to establish and maintain credibility and trust with managers and staff through knowledge and confidence.
- Aware of commitment to diversity.
- Welsh language skills are desirable at levels 1 or above in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh.
