Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Monitoring SME

One of our government clients is looking for an experienced Monitoring SME to join them for a 6 month contract. They are offering £515 per day INSIDE IR35.

Our client is based near Milton Keynes - commutable from Northampton, East Midlands, Bedford, Luton or Central London.

They are offering hybrid working, with 3 days per week onsite.

This role is working in a Security Cleared environment. You will need to be SC or DV (developed vetting) cleared or eligible to undertake SC or DV Security Clearance.

They need a Monitoring and Infrastructure Engineer, with expertise in Microsoft SCOM, strong Wintel skills, excellent troubleshooting capability, and experience operating in hybrid cloud environments.

You’ll support and enhance monitoring platforms while also contributing to the stability and performance of Windows Server, virtualisation, and cloud based systems.

There is an on-call element to this role.

A flat fee is payable for completing a 12 hour weekday shift (7pm - 7am) or 24 hour weekend or bank holiday shift (7.00am - 7.00am) whether the individual is called upon or not.

Experience Required

  • Strong experience with Windows Server (administration, troubleshooting, performance analysis).
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM, PRTG, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or VMware Aria Operations.
  • Experience in hybrid cloud environments (on prem + Azure).
  • Power Shell scripting for automation and operational tasks.
  • Understanding of monitoring concepts (metrics, logs, events, thresholds, dependency modelling).
  • Good knowledge of VMware virtualisation and network fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
