Role – Finance Manager (US)

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller you will assist in all aspects of financial management.

The main requirement is to ensure that on a constant basis the financial position is being accurately tracked and reported.

In conjunction with the Financial Controller (FC), you will ensure that the business systems continue to meet and improve business requirements whilst adhering to accounting and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily/Weekly Tasks

1. Bank:

  • Drafting weekly payment list
  • Setting up new beneficiaries
  • Reviewing & approving payments

2. Weekly consolidation of Revenue Phasing Schedules ‘RPS’ for Smarts Group, which incorporates UK, Amsterdam & the US.

3. Managing a team of two.

Bi-Weekly Tasks:

1. Assisting with bi-weekly cash forecasts

2. Ongoing review of Accrued Income, Work In Progress (WIP), Debtors, Creditors for US entity & UK specific clients:

  • Liaising with Sales Ledger team
  • Liaising with Purchase Ledger team
  • Liaising with Project Leads

3. US and UK-specific job closure processing – including relevant documentation, complete billing, correct release of Deferred Income (DI), Billing in Advance (BIA) and mark up.

4. Maintaining the Job Closures tracker.

Monthly Tasks:

1. Month end preparation for US entity:

  • Management of fixed asset register
  • Accruals
  • Prepayments
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Reconciliation of Accrued Income schedule
  • Reconciliation of Deferred Income schedule
  • Reconciliation of inter-company balances and agreeing balances with other MSQ companies
  • Releasing third party projects costs
  • P&L and Balance sheet reporting for review by FC

2. Month end preparation for UK division:

  • Reconciliation of Accrued Income schedule for UK-specific clients
  • Reconciliation of Deferred Income schedule for UK-specific clients
  • Reconciliation of WIP for UK-specific clients

Year End Tasks:

  • Assisting with preparation of year-end audit files for both UK & US.
  • Assisting with Revenue Recognition calculations for all open projects in line with ‘IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition’

Ad hoc Tasks:

  • Completion of statutory surveys from the office of National Statistics.
  • Assist Financial Controller in monthly financial reporting when required and work alongside other Finance Managers to ensure the smooth running of the finance department.
  • Identification and implementation of process improvement.

Key Skills, knowledge & Abilities

  • ATI/ACCA/CIMA qualification (part qualified will also be considered)
