This is a full time, permanent position, working a flexible 36.5 hour week, Monday - Friday. We are currently recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative PAT Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity based at our client's facility, a world class Pharmaceutical company based in Macclesfield. You will have a proven track record of delivering in-line and at-line analytical technology to pharmaceutical development projects and collaborating with project scientists to help support key Client projects.

Job Responsibilities:

• You will provide real-time laboratory data analytics to support process chemistry activities, delivering high-density insights that enable accelerated process understanding and decision-making.
• You can expect to collaborate closely with chemists and engineers to develop and implement Process Analytical Technology (PAT) solutions for complex drug substance projects, ensuring delivery against project milestones across early to late-stage development with reaction monitoring as well as continuous manufacturing.
• You will utilise reaction monitoring and continuous manufacturing strategies to generate meaningful scientific insights that support client project requirements and drive successful outcomes.
• The successful applicant will provide scientific and technical leadership within PAT, solving complex challenges, identifying key learnings, and sharing best practices across the wider department.
• You can expect to demonstrate ownership of PAT strategy and development on drug substance projects, representing Chemical Development as required and providing expert challenge to enhance project delivery and innovation.
• You will contribute to the ongoing development of Chemical Development capabilities by supporting current and future client portfolios, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and promoting new ways of working and scientific advancement.

Qualifications:

• You will hold a BSc, MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline, with experience gained within Research & Development, manufacturing, academia, or the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
• You will have significant experience working within chemical or analytical laboratory environments, supporting analytical development for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) using techniques such as UPLC, GC and Karl Fischer analysis.
• You will be expected to have practical expertise in Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and one or more key spectroscopic or analytical techniques, including NIR, Raman, IR, UV or LC, enabling you to provide specialist guidance to project teams.
• You will have experience working with PAT applications in drug substance development, with exposure to quantitative model development, real-time process monitoring, and ideally scale-up activities within clinical or commercial manufacturing environments.
• You will hold coding experience in Matlab, Python or similar programming languages, alongside a strong data-centric mindset and a willingness to further develop expertise in chemometrics and advanced data analysis.
• You will have experience operating within GMP-regulated environments and a sound understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) principles, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and safety.
