What you will do
Most enterprises do not have a data shortage. They have a knowledge connection problem.
smartR AI is hiring a Business Question Architect to help design the Enterprise Knowledge Layer that sits on top of siloed PLM, ERP, requirements, documents, and expert knowledge.
SCOTi® AI does not replace existing systems. It sits on top of them as a System of Intelligence, turning disconnected data into usable context and better decisions.
We are looking for someone who can translate messy business and engineering problems into structured questions, knowledge models, and solution pathways.
You will work with stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and technical teams to capture expert knowledge, map workflows, define requirements, and build question frameworks that guide AI-driven analysis.
Translate complex business and engineering problems into structured question frameworks.
Design and refine the Enterprise Knowledge Layer above siloed enterprise data.
Capture tacit knowledge from stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
Map workflows, requirements, data sources, dependencies, and decision paths.
Build question libraries, scenario structures, and traceability frameworks.
Collaborate with product and technical teams to ensure AI solves real bottlenecks.
Document process flows, architecture, requirements, and user scenarios.
Prioritise use cases based on business impact and feasibility.
What we are looking for
Strong Business Analysis or Business Architecture experience.
Experience gathering requirements and mapping complex business processes.
Ability to synthesise messy information and create clear structure.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Comfort working in a team where sharing ideas is critical to success (Think aerospace Crew Resource Management).
Interest in AI, knowledge systems, and enterprise problem-solving.
Experience with PLM, ERP, engineering, or regulated environments is valuable.
You do not need to be a developer. You need to know how to think.
Why join smartR AI?
smartR AI™ is an Edinburgh-based, multi-award-winning technology company delivering secure Assistive Intelligence for complex engineering programmes. Our SCOTi® platform helps organisations defeat Organizational Amnesia by digitising expert knowledge and accelerating requirements traceability.
If you want to work on AI that assists human expertise instead of replacing it — and you believe the right question is more valuable than the fastest answer —.
