Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for driving innovative energy solutions? As the Vice President of Origination at SmartestEnergy, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the future of energy trading. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Trading, this pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead a talented team of originators and structurers in executing complex wholesale energy and commodity transactions. You will play a key role in shaping our market strategies, developing bespoke solutions for large industrials, energy producers, and retailers, and leading the charge in acquiring regulated status with the Financial Conduct Authority.
With responsibility for both the strategic direction and day-to-day leadership of the Origination activity, you’ll influence product development, drive client acquisition, and foster a collaborative environment to meet business objectives. What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
- Extensive experience of renewable certificate and wholesale energy markets and trading gained through a front office position at a utility, energy trading house, bank or similar institution;
- Experience of setting up new products and markets;
- Track record of successfully transacting structured energy products (e.g. market access agreements, power purchase agreements, optimisation agreements, tolling agreements and options);
- Extensive and current UK and European market knowledge (e.g. market participants, market fundamentals, price and volatility trends, current key value opportunities for SmartestEnergy);
- Extensive knowledge of UK and European emissions, alternative fuels and renewable certificates;
- A broad knowledge of optionality, flexibility, credit arrangements and structured products.
