Residential Support Worker (Children\’s Home) Location: Burton Reports to: Residential Manager Liaises with: Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, Care Staff, Education Teams, Therapists and External Professionals Salary Progression Structure £31,****** Unqualified £31,****** After successful probation £32,****** With QCF Level 3 or 4 £33,****** As a Shift Leader with QCF 80% completed (All salaries include the sleep-in rate) Shift Pattern: 8am- 11pm 1 day on, x2 days off – Rolling Rota Job Purpose As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to young people aged ***** with emotional, behavioural and complex needs.
You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment where young people feel supported, respected and encouraged to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone calm, resilient, reliable and genuinely passionate about making a difference in young peoples lives.
Key Responsibilities Provide consistent, child-centred care that promotes emotional, physical and social development Safeguard the welfare of young people at all times in line with legislation and policy Promote positive behaviour, routines and clear boundaries Support young people with daily routines, education, appointments and activities Observe, record and report any safeguarding, welfare or behavioural concerns Act as a positive role model and trusted adult Teamwork Shift Support Work collaboratively as part of the care team Support shift planning and daily handovers Contribute to a positive, professional team culture Support senior staff and step into leadership responsibilities as you develop Multi-Agency Working Work alongside social workers, education providers, therapists and families Attend review meetings and contribute to care planning where required Maintain professional relationships with internal and external partners Administration Record Keeping Complete accurate daily logs, case notes and incident reports Contribute to care plans, risk assessments and statutory documentation Handle telephone enquiries appropriately Support financial accountability for young peoples monies Home Environment Maintain a clean, safe and homely environment Support with household tasks, cooking, cleaning and shopping Promote independence through life-skills development Report health safety or maintenance concerns promptly Training Development Work towards QCF Level 3, 4 or 5 as appropriate Attend mandatory training including safeguarding, first aid and health safety Engage in supervision, appraisals and continuous professional development Additional Duties Participate in the on-call rota when required Provide cover for sickness and holidays Support senior staff and step up into Shift Leader duties as progression allows Person Specification Essential GCSE level English (or equivalent) Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries Emotional resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviour Flexible to work shifts, including nights, weekends and
