We are working with a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice in Newcastle-under-Lyme that is seeking an experienced Client Manager to take responsibility for an existing and diverse client portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained professional who is qualified by experience or ACA/ACCA qualified and looking to progress within a stable, supportive firm.

The role focuses on managing and developing long-standing client relationships, rather than new business generation, with clear scope for career progression and ongoing professional development.

The role

As Client Manager, you will be responsible for managing an established portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. You will act as a key point of contact, ensuring a proactive and high-quality service across accounts preparation, taxation and general practice matters. Working closely with Directors and the wider team, you will help ensure client needs are met efficiently while supporting the development of junior team members.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing a varied portfolio of existing clients, tailoring services to individual needs
  • Working closely with Directors and managers to deliver a proactive, high-quality service
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships
  • Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Reviewing accounts prepared by trainees and providing constructive feedback and mentoring
  • Preparing personal and corporate tax returns and undertaking basic tax planning work
  • Managing workload and deadlines, coordinating with other managers to allocate resources effectively
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance services within existing client relationships
  • Reporting to Team Leaders and Directors as required

About you

  • Qualified by experience or ACA/ACCA qualified, with a strong background in accountancy practice
  • Broad experience across accounts, tax and general practice services
  • Client-focused with a commitment to delivering high standards of service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with excellent organisation and time management abilities
