Smartedge’s Client is looking for an individual to help with their Web Platform Administrator (DGM SCADA, EMS, SOMPLANNER) @ Lemington spa or Warwick, UK (Hybrid Working).

Key area: The DGM SCADA, EMS & Web Platform Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimization, and support of Digital Grid Management (DGM) SCADA, Energy Management System (EMS), and web-based platforms. This role ensures high availability, performance, and cybersecurity of mission-critical systems used for real-time grid monitoring, control, and operational planning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Platform Administration: Install, configure, and maintain DGM SCADA/EMS and web platforms. Manage system upgrades, patches, and version control across all environments (Dev, Test, Prod). Ensure high availability, redundancy, and system resilience.
  • System Operations & Support: Provide Level 2/3 support for SCADA, EMS, and web applications. Troubleshoot system, application, and integration issues across real-time and web platforms. Coordinate with client support and internal stakeholders for incident resolution.
  • SOM Web Platform Management: Administer SOM web applications, services, and user access. Manage web servers (e.g., IIS/Apache), application deployment, and performance tuning. Support operational planning workflows, scheduling tools, and reporting modules. Ensure seamless integration between SOMPLANNER, SCADA/EMS, and enterprise systems.
  • Database & Data Management: Administer real-time, relational, and historical databases. Ensure data integrity, backups, replication, and disaster recovery readiness. Optimize data flows between SCADA/ EMS and SOMPLANNER platforms.
  • Integration & Communication: Configure and maintain communication protocols (ICCP, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104). Integrate SCADA/EMS and SOMPLANNER with external systems (GIS, OMS, ERP, market systems). Support APIs, web services, and middleware integrations.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement cybersecurity controls aligned with standards (e.g., NERC CIP, ISO 27001). Perform vulnerability assessments, patching, and access control management. Secure web platforms and ensure compliance with IT and OT security policies.
  • System Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor system health, logs, alarms, and web application performance. Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability improvements. Identify and implement automation opportunities.
  • Documentation & Training: Maintain system architecture diagrams, SOPs, and configuration documentation. Provide training and knowledge transfer to operators and IT teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with SCADA/ EMS systems, 2+ of which with Client DGM.
  • Experience supporting web-based enterprise platforms (e.g., SOMPLANNER or similar).
  • Experience with databases (Cassandra/ Mongo) and real-time data systems.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (ICCP, DNP3, IEC standards).
  • Experience with Windows/Linux servers and web server technologies (IIS, Apache).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with SOMPLANNER or equivalent planning/scheduling platforms.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, and web integrations.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Shell, PowerShell).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NERC CIP ISO 27001).
  • Experience in utility, transmission, or distribution environments.
