We are seeking an experienced Installations Electrician with a strong background in electrical commercial and industrial installations, VFD installation and commissioning to join our dynamic and growing team. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and play a crucial role in driving energy efficiency for commercial and industrial clients.

The Opportunity: Based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, the role requires travel to client sites both locally and across the UK, with approximately 35% of the work involving staying away from home. You’ll take the lead on installing, programming, and commissioning electrical systems and equipment for a wide range of energy-saving projects.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include a company van, training opportunities, and performance-based bonuses.

The person will be required to work unsupervised or as part of a team on various sites across Wiltshire and the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Commissioning:
    • Install and commission electrical systems, including:
      • Energy monitoring systems
      • Sensors, and actuators
      • 3-phase motors, VSDs/VFDs and pumps
      • Renewable energy systems such as Solar PV
      • Battery storage
    • Modify and commission electrical equipment to meet project requirements.
    • Inspect and test your installations to ensure compliance with BS7671 standards and client requirements.
  • Programming and Troubleshooting:
    • Program, test, and troubleshoot energy saving equipment.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues with electrical systems, motors, and equipment.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Conduct risk assessments for installation and commissioning work.
    • Supervise and train junior team members.
    • Liaise with project managers and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all installations meet regulatory and safety standards.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years qualified and experienced in electrical installations, particularly in industrial or commercial settings.
  • Proven expertise in:
    • 3-phase systems and associated equipment
    • Energy-saving technologies (e.g., VSDs - install & Commissioning, motors)
    • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and technical documentation.
    • Strong knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition).
    • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrotechnical Technology.
    • Inspection & Testing qualifications (e.g., C&G 2391 or equivalent).
    • Valid ECS Gold Card.
    • Full UK driving licence (maximum of 6 points).
  • Desirable:
    • IPAF and PASMA certifications.
    • Solar PV installation and commissioning experience.
    • Asbestos Awareness certification.
    • Experience in energy reduction projects and technologies.

  • Flexibility to work out of hours when necessary and travel nationwide.
