The opportunity: We’re looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team and help keep Smartbox financial operations accurate, reliable and ready to support our global mission. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys detail, structure and collaboration, and wants their finance skills to contribute to technology that helps people communicate, connect and live more independently.
What you’ll be doing: You’ll support our month-end cycle, prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, keep balance sheet and intercompany records accurate, and help with monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting. You’ll also support R&D project accounting in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, assist with expenses and purchase ledger cover when needed, and work closely with colleagues across Finance, Orders and the wider business to resolve queries and improve our ways of working.

We need someone who can combine core accounting knowledge with curiosity about how the business works. You’ll help ensure our financial information is accurate and timely, while supporting a purpose-led organisation where good decisions help more people access life-changing communication technology.
What we’re looking for: We’re looking for someone organised, accurate and proactive, with the confidence to work with detailed financial information and communicate clearly with colleagues in different locations.
Essential experience:
- AAT qualified, or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or a similar accounting qualification (study support is available).
- A good understanding of basic double-entry accounting.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines accurately and consistently.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including confidence using Microsoft Teams to collaborate with remote colleagues.
- A positive, flexible approach to administrative tasks, problem-solving and supporting wider team priorities.
Some areas we often work with include:
- Monthly management accounts, general ledger journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
- Balance sheet, bank, intercompany and fixed asset reviews.
- R&D project accounting and reporting in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
- Sensitive data, compliance requirements and continuous improvement within a regulated, purpose-led environment.
