A leading South African energy trader requires a dynamic Energy Offtake and Trading Specialist to play a pivotal role in shaping the company's Commercial and Trading Strategy to be based in South Africa, preference being Johannesburg based. This role will focus on growing the offtaker portfolio and developing the strategy for participation in South Africa's Wholesale Energy Market (SAWEM). The company is focused on delivering innovative renewable energy solutions across Southern Africa.
- Lead the development and execution of commercial and trading strategies, focusing on offtaker portfolios, trading platforms, and SAWEM engagement.
- Act as a commercial interface to customers by growing and maintaining relationships with offtakers, regulators, and shareholders.
- Build generation and offtaker portfolios to support commercial and trading strategies.
- Shape market-facing energy products, contracts, and trading models.
- Champion risk-managed commercial practices, contributing to project valuation, contract negotiations, and performance planning.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to integrate commercial strategy into business planning, sustainability, and social impact initiatives.
Requirements:
- Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years' experience in commercial roles, preferably in energy trading or renewable energy.
