Smart4Chemicals are looking to recruit a Mechanical Test Engineer for a leading organisation based in the Wrexham area. As a Mechanical Test Engineer you will be responsible for developing and implementing new testing techniques whilst also improving existing methods. You will also be responsible for expanding testing capabilities to include physical, analytical and mechanical techniques.

To be considered for the role of Mechanical Test Engineer you must have previous experience working in the advanced materials market, ideally 5+ years. Bachelors educated as an absolute minimum in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related subject. PhD would be highly advantageous.

Role requirements:
  • Bachelors educated as a minimum in materials science, mechanical engineering or a closely related subject. PhD would be advantageous.
  • Previous industrial experience in the advanced materials sector, specifically composite materials.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials.
  • Team leader/management experience also highly beneficial.
  • Experience OR strong understanding in the use of six sigma, lean and CI tools.
Role responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement new testing techniques covering physical, analytical and mechanical whilst improving existing methods.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and method development.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting test failures.
  • Actively support test requests and provide detailed reports with comparisons to industry standards.
  • Help to expand testing capabilities within the lab.
