About the Role
As Territory Manager, you\’ll take ownership of sales performance across your region, managing a defined portfolio of customers and products. You\’ll act as the key link between customers, internal teams, and supplier partners, delivering exceptional service, strategic insight, and profitable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve agreed turnover and profitability targets across your territory.
- Maintain deep knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with customers, internal colleagues, and supplier partners.
- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates.
- Develop and deliver territory plans, ensuring efficient coverage and consistent customer contact.
- Produce detailed visit reports, manage CRM data, and ensure timely follow-up on quotations, samples, and projects.
- Provide insight on pricing, volume allocation, and opportunities to optimise profit.
- Deliver presentations at customer meetings, events, and industry exhibitions.
- Support strategic planning by sharing customer insights and market intelligence.
- Organise joint customer visits with supplier partners and provide regular account updates.
- Uphold the highest standards of business ethics and represent the company professionally at all times.
- Plan weekly itineraries, maintain an up-to-date opportunities pipeline, and manage expenses in line with policy.
- Occasional weekend travel for customer visits or product training may be required.
About You
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- 7+ years\’ experience in a customer-facing commercial role within the UK Personal Care, HI&I or related scientific/chemical sectors.
- Proven success managing territories, customer relationships, and sales performance.
Essential Skills
- Strong communication: verbal, written, and presentation.
- Effective negotiation and consultative selling skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and commercial awareness.
- Confidence with planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Solid IT, organisational, and project management skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline – or equivalent industry experience.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Desirable: SCS Diploma.
