Are you an experienced sales professional with a strong background in the chemical industry? Our client, a respected UK manufacturer and distributor, is seeking a proactive Sales Manager to help grow their portfolio of specialist chemical products across the North UK Region.

Role Overview

In this customer-facing role, you will:

  • Promote the company\’s products and services across established and emerging markets.
  • Drive sales of both manufactured and distributed products, directly and through a network of distributors and agents.
  • Provide valuable market intelligence on customers, competitors, and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong, long‑term relationships with existing customers, becoming their primary point of contact.
  • Engage confidently with both technical and commercial teams to understand product applications and uncover new opportunities.
  • Research, identify and approach new customers and markets using your industry expertise.
  • Sell across sectors in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate terms (incl. MOQ, margin, delivery, and T&Cs) and convert opportunities into sales.
  • Follow up on leads from the website, enquiries and external sources.
  • Attend UK and international trade exhibitions and manage subsequent follow‑up.
  • Keep detailed records of all activities via the company\’s CRM system.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless sales operations.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge and stay informed about industry developments.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas as required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years\’ proven sales experience within the chemical industry.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and confident, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning and administrative abilities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience with speciality chemicals and ingredients.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM.
